Didn't fancy driving far to take advantage of the mild and breezy forecast so Mag and I took the gear to Levington - not a fast venue but close to home :) We had breafast in the van and I rigged at about 10:30 with the tide already turned and going out. With 20 mph on the gauge and wind with tide and water getting less it was always going to be a longboard day. I risked 8.5 which to be honest was a bit of a handfull at times and the river was bumpy on the bend. It was during one run in the really bumpy bit my uj broke :( luckily the webbing held and I managed to make to the bank to change - I always carry a spare on my longboard trips !!! The bad news was I put a big hole in my poor old Cat :( and then saw a 6" hole in my sail !!! I then headed back to the van to get another spare uj and had another hour by which time the wind had swung from wsw to west and although the water was alot flatter the wind had eased :( Still it was nice to be out in Feb after all that ice and snow - it was really mild and didn't get cold at all !!! It's a real shame we haven't got a nice safe flatwater venue here in Suffolk :(
